On 2nd April 2012, the Minister for Primary Industries, Ms Katrina Hodgkinson, announced significant reforms to cemetery management in NSW.
On 29th June 2012, the Trusts established to manage the Crown cemeteries in northern metropolitan Sydney were dissolved and amalgamated to form the Northern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (NMCT). Macquarie Park Cemetery and Crematorium, Frenchs Forest Bushland Cemetery, Field of Mars Cemetery (non-catholic components) and Gore Hill Memorial Cemetery are now managed by the NMCT which is a fully self-supporting statutory authority.
The Northern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust recognise that cemeteries are primarily a place for the living, a tranquil environment where current and future generations can share cherished memories, pay their respects and celebrate the lives and achievements of those who have gone before.
We strive daily to maintain our vision of being a caring and responsive organisation, an integral part of our diverse community and at the forefront of world class memorial parks.
